It sure is a gloomy fall day here in South Florida, but I am beyond excited to share a little sneak peek of Our Little 50's Fixer Upper master bedroom makeover!!! The space is small and definitely nothing to boast about, but we love it and are enjoying finally sleeping on an actual bed again and in an actual bedroom again! We have been camping out on our mattress on the floor in our family room for weeks now and are happy to be done with that phase of our renovation project. It was fun while it lasted! ;)
This room started out as an empty, neutral-painted space with out-dated mirrored closet doors, damaged original wood floors, and a horribly ugly ceiling fan, but we both saw potential... and I think we have achieved it!
I have always wanted to go dark in a room in my home... and I mean dark! Which, as you all know, is a bit out of my "neutrals only" box, but I think it makes a statement and I love the idea of doing something dark and dramatic in just one special space in your home. And if done correctly, a dark color/space can actually feel calm and cozy, which I thought was perfect for our bedroom space and for my sleep-loving husband. ;) We installed new flooring throughout in a dark wood finish, followed by a dramatically dark paint colors on the walls (bright white on the ceilings, doors and trim), and then layered over that with a mix of wood and metal finishes, patterns and textures. You know I love me some layering over here at C Studio! Well, without further ado, here is our master bedroom in all her newly renovated glory...
