This week has been hectic around our house, but so exciting to see things finally happening! We bought our little 50's fixer upper with the intent, of course, of fixing it up.... Due to some issues with the shower pan leaking in our "Master Bath," (which I am putting in quotes because it is an old 1950's home so the Master Suite and closet space throughout is small to say the least) we are starting in that space first. Below is a visual run-through of what's been going on this week.... Stay tuned next week for the finished product and before and afters of our new Master Suite transformation !!! xo- Chelsey
First and foremost is a before photo of the horribly, small, ugly, outdated green bathroom! Yuck! Don't you all just love it?!
And here's the bedroom... Yes, we've been sleeping on our mattress and box springs with a pull-up side table as a nightstand for far too long now! ;) Don't even get me started on those mirrored closet doors and don't mind our pets who of course had to make their appearance in half the photos! They're excited to see the transformation too!
We got our contractor and his team in right away on Monday and they got right to it with DEMO DAY!!! Woo hoo!!!
First came out the vanity and then the tile and then right down to the drywall... notice the NEWSPAPER insulation we found in there?!?! Uuuum what?!?!
Next up was new shower curb, new Durock on all the shower walls, new shower pan and drain, new plumbing valves, new wall niche for our various shower products, new junction boxes for the beautiful BRASS wall sconces that will be flanking our vanity mirror, etc. Eeeeeee!
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, they were prepping to paint and replacing our ceiling fan for something at least a bit more updated. Closet doors and floors are up next, followed by getting some actual bedroom furniture in this space FINALLY!
Aaaand here's where we stand as of the end of this week! Subway tiles galore! Can't wait to get that dark grout in there!!!
While the Master Suite reno is underway, we've also started some demo work in the Kitchen and Dining so we could see what was inside the walls and figure out where exactly we can go from here to open the space up. Not to mention, our warehouse... aka the Living Room. That's a wrap for this week folks! Until next time...
